Thanks a lot, Facebook
Since I am in the biz* ... I know the Facebook ads that run along side our profiles and home pages are about as targeted as shrapnel. So I'll try not to take this one too personally.
First of all, I'm only 31. Second of all, the people in this ad actually look older than me. Third of all, I already have the looks, health and energy of a robust young adult, thankyouverymuch.
On a businessy note: Really, Facebook? Way to tell the world your ad space is worthless. Ads for scam "natural supplements"? At the very least you could have promised to give me a free iPod or a bigger penis. People like iPods and penises.
* So, what does my company do on Facebook? Read about it on the LA Times blog.

I am traveling in time, and I happened upon your blog. Facebook is STILL running the tasteless ad promoting having the Joker (Heath Ledger) leave voicemails on your cell phone that seemed so outrageous the day after he died. I don't think people are involved in their ad screening at all.

Generations span a large amount of time. Your generation consists of people born between the years of 1960-1980. Most of the population for that generation was born in the 60's. That is not you. They are targeting the largest portion of your generation. Furthermore, you will notice that most advertisements produced by financial organizations target baby boomers even though our earning potential is high do the fact that our generation has the most diverse set of skills per individual. Generational studies are obviously not part of the professional advertiser’s continuing education. Unless that ad designer is my husband. He has a strong opinion on this very topic.
