Rubbing elbows with famous internet nerds and marketing types
For the past two days, I've been at the Conversational Marketing Summit put on by Federated Media Publishing, my employer. There were a lot of worky moments wherein I talked about metrics and platforms and jargon. But there was also a lot of talking to internet celebrities and eating and drinking things.
Internet people talk to me in real life:
I talked to Xeni Jardin of Boing Boing and NPR about Karl Rove's dad's penis. She is very stylish!
I talked to Markos Moulitsas ZĂșniga of Daily Kos about how the internet is a happenin' place to be on a Saturday night.
Leona and I accompanied Ask A Ninja peeps (ninja included) to dinner, and rumors circulated that we were up to no good. What we were really up to was actually quite wholesome.
Pretty radical, no?
But wait, there's more. If you didn't know, there's a gossip site for every industry. Gawker Media runs several, including Wonkette for Washington DC, Defamer for Hollywood and Valleywag for Silicon Valley/Bay Area tech. Well, they covered the after party.
So ... Leona and I are featured on a gossip site. Sure, they think the company I work for is bullshit and like to talk about the CEO's tan. But they also put up a picture of us, so they can't be all bad. Would you like to see the post? OK! It is here.
